01 - Peel, core, and slice apples into uniform 1/2-inch wedges for even cooking.
02 - Place apple slices in Instant Pot. Sprinkle brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt evenly over top. Drizzle with maple syrup or honey and add water or apple juice.
03 - Distribute butter pieces across the surface of the apples.
04 - Secure lid and set valve to sealing position. Cook on high pressure for 2 minutes.
05 - Allow natural pressure release for 3 minutes, then carefully quick-release any remaining pressure.
06 - Open lid and gently stir in vanilla extract. For thicker consistency, use Sauté mode and simmer 2-3 minutes. Serve warm over oatmeal, pancakes, or ice cream.
